How You Can Help

Dear Half the sky:
My name is Kelsey and I was adopted from China. I had my 13th birthday party in May. I asked for money so that I could sponsor a child for one year. Here is a picture of myself and friends at the birthday party. Thanks for helping my sisters in China.

Celebrate your birthday and help the kids in China!
Here are some sample party invitations.

10-year-old Annali Yurkevicz ran a Flower Planter Raffle to benefit Half the Sky. Inspired by her work in her uncle’s greenhouse, Annali sold raffle tickets at 25 cents each for a small planter and 50 cents for a large planter. Annali hopes to make the raffle an annual event: “I am proud of Annali’s “stick-to-it-tiveness,” says her mom Irene.

Make something special and sell it for the kids of Half the Sky!

The Hefei Girls Travel Group gets together fairly regularly and at a recent party the girls (all age 6 1/2) decided to raise some money to help their sisters and brothers in China. So they began by washing empty bottles (soda, water, etc.) and trying to sell them for a penny a piece. When that didn't raise that much money, they made signs and went out on the street to solicit donations from anyone walking or driving by. They were so enthusiastic and thankful any time someone gave them their spare change to send to Half the sky. And their parents all had a great time watching them make such a sincere effort to help others.
