PART THREE

Dujiangyan, Summer, 2008 : Throughout the summer and early fall, Half the Sky works to create "BigTops" - Children's Activity Centers - in refugee camps near the earthquake epicenter. The BigTops offer preschool and endless activities for school-age children: art, music, dance, sports and games. Most of all, the BigTops offer a safe place for children just to be children. Watched over by caregivers receiving ongoing training in helping children deal with trauma, the children will, over time, find the resilience to go on with their lives.

The images that follow are taken at BigTop #1, in Qinjian Refugee Camp.
